approach

Many of us arrive in therapy feeling unsafe or unsettled in our bodies. Whatever you are experiencing, be that anxiety, depression, the pain of trauma or oppression, together we will collaborate to tend to what hurts and to nurture the vitality inside you. I am not here to “fix” you (because there is nothing to “fix”). I am here to help you come into relationship with all the parts of yourself. I will be present with you so that what wants to unfurl, can unfurl.

How I orient to therapy:

  • Somatically: I trust the body to find its way towards healing, just as I trust a seed to know how to break through the soil and find sunlight. In therapy, we will listen for your body’s knowing, following your sensations, emotions, movements, and memories as clues to guide the healing journey. I support you to grow body awareness. I bring attention to present moment experiences. I might invite you into mindfulness, visualization, imagination, movement, or experiential exercises, with choice and consent. Together we will notice your automatic reactions and support you to cultivate a sense of greater safety and choice.

  • Relationally: I believe we heal in relationship. I offer a place to explore your experience of connection and to practice how you want to relate with yourself and others. I am not a blank slate. I show up with you with realness and care.

  • Politically: We are shaped by the systems that surround us. In therapy, we explore where oppression and hierarchies are living in you. We make space to unravel and transform the narratives taught by dominant cultures.

My style is warm, playful, gentle, and experiential. I have deep reverence for the wise ways people survive. I collaborate with you to unearth and follow your innate knowing.

I support you to have greater access to yourself-- to your body, your deep wisdom, and your wholeness.
